Use this recipe to handle new hire and HR tasks in Jira as part of your employee onboarding process. The recipe includes:
- A Boomi design to create a Jira epic for each new hire, and create pre-defined tasks within that epic. (A Jira epic is a large body of work that can be broken down into a number of smaller stories or “Issues” in Jira.)
- Notes about where Boomi uses Master Data Hub within our implementation of this process.

Overview:
We built an employee onboarding process using the Boomi platform. This recipe explores our use of Jira for new-hire task management. Task management is a fundamental part of employee onboarding. A good task management strategy is user-friendly, functional, and secure.
Jira is a best-in-breed cloud task management platform, most often used for software engineering work. We chose Jira as our system of record for new hire onboarding tasks, because it has excellent in-built task management features. It was also conveniently already part of our Boomi tech stack, so we could integrate with it without requiring any new infrastructure or costs.
